Jaymay was born in 1981 in New York. She attended New College of Florida in 2003 but found herself unable to find a job in book publishing, so she decided to return to New York and perform at open mic nights.
In 2006 she released her first EP See Green, See Blue. Her work paid off because in 2007 she signed to Heavenly Records which prompted her move to London.
Her song "See Green, See Blue" was used in the Season 2 finale of How I Met Your Mother.
Her first album Autumn Fallin' was released that same year on Blue Note Records.
She had appeared on both Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
She is currently working on a new EP 10 under 2 but no release date has been announced.
