The Joe Schmo Show was a comedy reality show which aired on Spike TV in 2003. The entire purpose of the show was to make the main cast believe that they were on a real reality show while at the same time introducing situations that were likely to have funny reactions.
The Joe Schmo Show and Schmo 2 were created by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The show is meant as a spoof of reality contest shows.
In the first season there was only one character who was not in on the joke and it was up to the job of all the actors to make sure his life was very difficult throughout the show. The second season involved two characters that were not in on the joke. Both seasons had entirely different types of reality show (one was for money and the other was for love).
The first season was released on DVD in 2004 and the second season released in 2009.
