Mat Kearney was born in 1978 in Oregon. He began performing in 2003 and in 2004 he released his first album entitled Bullet. The album did not have chart topping success but did gain some attention after Kearney's follow-up album was released.
This was followed in 2006 with Nothing Left to Lose. The album featured many songs that were on Bullet along with a few new songs. One song entitled "All I Need" tells the story of two of his friends from New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. The song was the second single from the album and was featured on Grey's Anatomy and rose to #94 on the Billboard Pop 100.
"Nothing Left to Lose" rose to #39 on the Billboard Pop 100 and was the first single off the album.
Mat Kearney's music has been featured on Grey's Anatomy, NCIS, Scrubs, Bones, Dirty Sexy Money, The Closer and One Tree Hill.
Mat Kearney has recently released City of Black and White in May of 2009. The first single off the album "Closer to Love" has reached #18 in the Adult Top 40.
