This is the 42nd post in our Musician of the Day series.
Mike Posner was born in 1988 in Michigan. His interest in music began developing in the 5th grade when he became a drummer for his elementary school band.
At the age of 13, Mike began composing his own beats. Then at the age of 17 he began to gain popularity as a vocalist when he was featured several times on a local Detroit radio station.
He currently attends Duke University as a double major in Sociology and Business.
In January of 2009, Mike wrote, produced, and recorded every song on his debut mixtape. The mixtape was released to the web in March and induced a bidding war between labels with J Records finally winning out and signing Mike.
He is currently working on his debut album which is hoping for a Fall release.
