This is the 9th post in our TV Series of the Week series.
The Soup is a weekly series on E! Entertainment Television which premiered in 2004. It was created as a recreated version of Talk Soup which used to comment on pop culture and television moments. The Soup does much the same thing with host Joel Mchale providing commentary.
The show focuses on Joel McHale in front of a green screen and showing clips from various television shows. McHale then provides witty and sarcastic commentary on each clip before moving on to the next one. The show is done in front of a small audience which is composed of E! employees, their families, friends and technical crew. While there is a script a large portion of the show is ad-libbed.
While the show premiered to relative silence it has been steadily building an audience and has now become the third most popular series on E!.
